NEWS CENTER - As the Justice Watch of Emine and Ferit Şenyaşar enters its 3rd year, their protests continue with determination in their demands.

On 14 June 2018, in the town of Riha (Urfa) Pirsûs Suruç), the bodyguard and relatives of AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız, Hacı Esvet Şenyaşar, murdered his children Adil and Celal Şenyaşar. While no effective investigation was carried out after the massacre, Emine Şenyaşar's son Fadıl has been in detention for 5 years. Emine, who wants justice for the perpetrators and her son, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attacks with injuries, have been seeking justice since 2018.

28 investigations opened

Emine's request is the release of her son Fadıl Şenyaşar, who has been kept in solitary confinement for about 4 years despite her self-defense, and that the confidentiality decision in the file regarding the massacre at the hospital be lifted and a lawsuit filed. While the family's demand has been persistently ignored until now, those who have not heard the demand for justice, let alone prosecuting the perpetrators, have repeatedly detained Emine and Ferit. 28 investigations were opened against Emine on the grounds of the statements she used during the watch.

The perpetrator waited for the prosecutor to change

Emine and Ferit Şenyaşar's search for justice began with a sit-in on September 10, 2019. One week after the action, on September 17, 2019, Enver Yıldız, who took part in the attack, came to the courthouse with 50 people and surrendered. It was revealed in the phone tapes of Enver Yıldız that he was residing in his home at the time of the search and was waiting for the prosecutor to be replaced in order to surrender.

Detention for meeting request

Continuing their struggle for justice, the family went to Ankara on September 15, 2020 with the same demands. For 9 days, meetings were held with political parties, non-governmental organizations and many people. The family, whose appointment requests were rejected by official institutions, went to the doors of institutions such as the Ministry of Justice and the Presidential Complex, but the doors were closed in their faces. The family went to the AKP Urfa provincial building on December 16, 2020 and asked to meet with the provincial president. The meeting did not take place due to the absence of the head of the province. Thereupon, Emine and Ferit, who started a sit-in with the demand for "justice" in front of the AKP provincial building, were detained. The family, who was released with judicial control, was decided not to prosecute on February 8, 2021, in the investigation opened on the grounds of the sit-in.

The Şenyaşar family started a sit-in for the second time on March 9, 2021, demanding "Justice" in front of the Urfa Courthouse. Having faced obstacles many times since the beginning of the action, Emine and Ferit stubbornly did not stop expressing their demands. Many non-governmental organizations, parties and women's organizations visited the "Justice Watch", which has completed its one year. Emine's cry for "justice" became the common cry of everyone.

Three awards given

Emine Şenyaşar, who received the Amed Medical Chamber's "Peace, Friendship and Democracy" award in March 2022, said, "I will not stop fighting." While the Istanbul Medical Chamber gave the Peace and Democracy Award to Emine and Ferit Şenyaşar on May 23, 2022, the Qers Bar Association presented the 2022 Justice Award to Emine Şenyaşar on January 6th.

Investigations never stop

The judiciary club continued to work frequently to end Emine Şenyaşar's demand for justice. The indictment, prepared by the Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with the allegation that Emine Şenyaşar's speeches contained "insult", was accepted by the Urfa 4th Criminal Court of First Instance on March 19, 2022. In the indictment, Emine Şenyaşar was accused of AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız at the Justice Watch in 2021. His words about her were "insult". In the investigation opened against Emine Şenyaşar with the allegation of "insult", a decision of non-prosecution was given on May 10, 2022.

Massacre trial postponed

The first hearing of the case, which was opened after 4 years and 4 months as a result of the family's struggle regarding the attacks of AKP's Urfa Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguard and relatives in the hospital, was held on 17 January at the Malatya 5th High Criminal Court. While the hearing was postponed to March 15, the family and their lawyers, who made a statement after the trial, pointed out that they will continue their struggle until the real perpetrators are found.

Suspended for earthquake

The family announced that they have suspended the justice action they have been carrying out for 2 years without saying snow-winter, hot or cold, by saying "Now is the time for help" in order to join the solidarity in the earthquake that took place in Mereş on February 6th. The vigil resumed on February 20.

The seizure continues

Emine and her son Ferit continue their actions on the 717th day without taking a step back, despite all the pressure, obstacles and investigations.
