NEWS CENTRE - While Turkey's attacks on the Tişrîn Dam and people's convoys continue, the people who started a watch action stressed that they will continue their resistance with the spirit of 19 July.
Since 8 December, the Turkish state and its paramilitary SMO groups have been carrying out air and ground attacks against the Tişrîn Dam in Northern and Eastern Syria. The resistance against the attacks has been continuing uninterruptedly for 38 days. On 8 January, thousands of people from the cities of Northern and Eastern Syria came to Tishrin Dam with the call of the Autonomous Administration. Along with the attacks against the dam, the convoys formed by the people to go to the dam were repeatedly attacked.
Every day, the area around the dam is bombarded by warplanes. Despite this, hundreds of people are travelling to the dam to support the watch actions. Women participating in the resistance drew attention to the resistance by speaking to our agency.
‘QSD is the people’
Xanim Ebdillah, who participated in the protest from Reqa, expressed her feelings and thoughts as follows, "We have been here with our people for 3 days. We are behind QSD, we are behind our friends. We make a call from here once again and state that we are with them. QSD is the people. We call out to Turkey and say that we are not afraid of tanks and cannons and threats. Here we are, together with our friends. Our goal is one and we will succeed. We will not leave here until fascism is defeated."
‘We will not surrender this revolution’
Rûken Meleîbrahîm, one of the administrators of Reqa Autonomous Administration, said, "We have been at Tişrîn Dam for 3 days. We are keeping watch here. You know that the people of Northern and Eastern Syria are always on watch. Today we are on the 8th day of resistance. While the attacks against the dam continue, the people come here for protection and face the attacks. As you know, the spirit of the 19th of July resistance, the spirit of the 19th of July, when the Women's Revolution began, is being displayed here today under the leadership of women.
Most of the convoys that stand guard and resist here are made up of women. In the convoy before us, a woman was killed in an attack. She was a member of the Zeynabîye Council. Women were targeted once again, because they know that the revolution is a women's revolution and they want to end the women's revolution by targeting women. However, when a woman loses her life, thousands of women follow in her footsteps and continue to defend the women's revolution. We will not surrender this revolution. On the 8th day of the resistance, everyone is witnessing a great resistance here. Reconnaissance planes and attack planes are circling in the sky and yesterday there were intense attacks around the dam. But we did not retreat even for a moment, we did not give up. We respond to the attacks with our own strength, enthusiasm and morale. Reqa, Tebqa, Dêra Zor cantons continue their vigil at Tişrîn Dam with great morale.
We reiterate once again; we will not abandon the dam. We will continue our support to QSD and continue our resistance. We will be here. We will preserve the 19 July's spirit of revolution. We will succeed and we will build a free, democratic and federal Syria with all our achievements."
‘They are making history with their lives’
Zelîxa Abdî, Co-Chair of the Reqa Canton Education Committee, who took part in the vigil, said: "First of all, I address the Turkish state; we will never give up the Tişrîn Dam. Because this dam provides water and electricity to Reqa and all Syrian cities. We will be with the YPG, YPJ and QSD fighters. Yes, we have been here for days. Our morale is high because we get our morale from our fighters. And our fighters are with their people. This shows how they have established a bond with their people. This bond was not formed in a day. It was formed with revolutionary spirit. Because we believe in the philosophy of democratic nation, women's brotherhood and the unity of peoples.
Especially the efforts of the YPJ in Minbiç and Tişrîn Dam are historical. It was the same in Kobanê.Now it is on the stage of history again.Arab, Kurdish, Assyrian and Assyrian young women join YPJ and defend their lands, women's line and women's organisation. When we see YPJ fighters, when they are martyred or wounded or captured, our morale never drops.Because we see every day of their struggle and their belief gives us great strength. When the gangs came, they could not save even one person, while QSD was here and saved the people.Reqa, Dêra Zor, Tebqa and even Damascus are calling for QSD.This is not a small thing, this is history.
Today every Syrian people has reached a stage.Today, thanks to the QSD, Syria will reach a democratic, equal and just stage. QSD fighters are making history every day. They are writing history with their lives."
