WAN- Speaking about the discussions that started after the DEM Party delegation went to İmralı and met with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, women from Wan said that they want peace to live freely, for no one to cry and for Abdullah Öcalan to be free.
A delegation of Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) MPs Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder went to İmralı Island on 28 December 2024 and met with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. After this meeting with Abdullah Öcalan, who was kept under severe isolation, 7 articles regarding the solution of the Kurdish problem were shared. The delegation then held talks with political parties in the Parliament. Following these contacts, a second meeting was held with Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı on 22 January. After the meeting, it was stated that Abdullah Öcalan continued to work for a democratic solution.
Wanlı women shared their thoughts on the developments.
Peace for the occupied
Emine Keskin: I want peace for my nation, for the Kurds, for those who are under occupation. We are under pressure now, if there is peace we will be free. They are holding talks, if they can, a successful result can be achieved.
I want Abdullah Öcalan to be free
Brother Shirin: We want peace so that the current events in the world will stop. We want wars to end, we are all brothers and sisters now. We want the doors of prisons to be opened and Mr Abdullah Öcalan to be freed. We want the blood to stop, our prisoners to be freed, people in prisons are miserable, they are subjected to violence and torture. Let the torture against the Kurdish people come to an end. We want peace.
An invitation to Parliament on the one hand and bombing on the other!
Şaraban Bayhan: We want peace to stop the bloodshed and for the freedom of Mr Abdullah Öcalan. Let the blood stop and no more mums crying. Let the steps taken be instrumental in stopping the blood, freedom and peace. Enough of the crying of mothers and the suffering of our people. On the one hand they say peace, on the other hand they start a war. They deceive the people, they lie. They invite Mr Abdullah Öcalan to the Parliament and then bomb Rojava.
İpek Sağlam: There is no need for violence and war. Let's all join hands and live as brothers and sisters. If there is peace, wars will stop and the world will become more beautiful. It is good that there are talks. I am the mother of two soldiers and I really want peace against war.
A call to the state
Ayşe Abi: Let the state extend its hand and let there be peace. Let the negotiations lead to peace. Let there be peace so that no one dies. So that nothing happens to any mother's child.
For everyone to be free...
Sultan Toner: We want peace and everyone to live freely. We want the war and bloodshed to stop. We want to be free like others. No one should die and everyone should have their rights.
