HELEB - Evaluating the message sent by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan to the Êzidî community, Suad Hiso, member of the Syrian Êzidî Union, stated that they welcomed it with great enthusiasm and emphasised that their struggle was renewed with the message.

Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan sent a message to the Êzidî community during his meetings with the delegation of the Equality and Democracy Party of Rights (DEM Party). In his message, he stated that he supports the struggle of the Êzidî community under all circumstances and that the freedom of the Êzidîs and the freedom of the peoples of the Middle East are interconnected.

Suad Hiso, a member of the Syrian Êzidî Union, spoke to JINNEWS about the message, which was welcomed with excitement and enthusiasm by the Yazidi community.

‘The leadership feels the pain of the Yazidis’

Stating that they welcomed the message of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan with great enthusiasm, Suad Hiso said, "As the Êzidî community, we are very happy about the message of the Leader. Because the leadership feels the pain of the Yazidis and is interested in their problems. He sent messages to the Êzidî community many times. In 2013, he also sent a message to the Êzidî community. He stated that the Êzidî community should be protected because they were under attack."

Great betrayal against the Yazidis

Drawing attention to the attacks against the Yazidi community, Suad Hiso said the following: "In 2014, the world's most notorious gangs known as DAIS attacked the Êzidî community in Shengal. They committed many massacres. Many women and children were massacred, kidnapped and sold in markets. We defined the beginning of the edicts within the Kurdish community as a great betrayal, because 12 thousand Peshmerga, who were Kurds, left Shengal and the defence of Shengal. The Êzidî community was wanted to be destroyed in this way. In his message, the leadership draws attention to the fact that the Êzidî community continues to defend themselves against edicts today."

They organised themselves

Suad Hiso drew attention to the fact that Êzidîs are defending themselves today and said: "After facing so many edicts, the Yazidi community is now defending itself. They are reorganising themselves. They have formed their assemblies and forces. They now believe in themselves. Because it was YPG, YPJ, HPG and YJA-STAR who took care of the Êzidî community. They protected the Yazidi community from massacre. In this way, the Êzidî community was able to introduce itself to the world."

Yesterday Yazidis, today Alevis

Drawing attention to the chaos in Syria today and the massacres against the Alawites, Suad Hiso said the following "There have been many massacres against Alawites in the coastal cities of Syria for a while. Women, children, men, old people are being brutally massacred. When we remember the attacks of DAIS on the Yazidi community in 2014, Alawites are being massacred with the same brutality today. Again, these massacres took place in Kobanê and in Efrin in 2018 with the same hand and mentality. However, today we, as the Êzidî community, are able to protect ourselves, our beliefs and culture."

‘The struggle was renewed with the message of the leadership’

Referring to the message sent by the Kurdish People's Leader to the Êzidî community, Suad Hiso stated that their struggle was renewed and said: ‘The Leader sent us a message on 18 March, the day we had to leave Efrîn. We received the message of the leadership with great enthusiasm. Today we are protecting and organising ourselves again on the basis of the message sent by the leadership. With YBŞ, YJŞ and our asayish in every aspect. In this way, we prove that we do not accept surrender with a strong will."

‘We believe we will see our lead’

Drawing attention to the Kurdish People's Leader's emphasis that every nation must organise itself to protect itself against assimilation and extermination, Suad Hiso stated the following: ‘’The Êzidis in Shengal are able to protect themselves and maintain their existence because they educate themselves on the basis of the ideas of the Kurdish People's Leader: Every nation must also protect itself and ensure its organisation. In the Êzidî belief, it is said, ‘We are the owners of this land, but every different nation has threatened us’. Once again, I send greetings to the Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. I believe that we will see our leader among us physically and I will return to our lands."
