ANKARA - American feminist and philosophy of science professor Helen Longino sent a message of support for Abdullah Öcalan's February 27 “Call for Peace and a Democratic Society.”
American feminist and philosophy of science professor Helen Longino sent a message of support to the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM PARTY) regarding Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan's February 27 “Call for Peace and a Democratic Society.”
‘The peaceful call moved me’
Helene Longino stated in her message: “I have read the platform of the DEM Party and welcome its commitment to helping bring about a peaceful, pluralist, democratic society in Turkey. I was impressed by Abdullah Ocalan’s call to set aside the armed struggle and use peaceful means to achieve full rights for all citizens of Turkey, including the Kurds. I wish you well.”

Helene Longino, a professor of philosophy at Stanford University, has written several books on the philosophy of science, social epistemology, and feminist philosophy, and teaches courses on these subjects. A prominent contemporary philosopher of science, Helene Longino is considered one of the most influential feminist philosophers of science alive today.
